SketchUp is 3D modeling game where you can build whatever you can think of, It does get tough when you try to build things that are not square. There are lots of tutorials out there that can help you be a pro at this game.
The most useful and the tool you will use the most is the rectangle tool. It used to start off any build you have especially if you are building a house like I will. The point of the rectangle tool is to create an equal rectangle which can be used as a base to the house.
The push/pull tool is used to make your 2D image into a 3D image. So for a house it can be used as the walls and you could add more detail by adding doors and windows.
The line tool is used to connect a shape to another or be used to make the roof even and look like a house.
The move tool lets you make different shapes and move certain lines around on a creation you have made. These tools are the tools you will use in most if not all your creations in SkethUp.
Tips and Tricks
-You could use the line or rectangle tool and free hand the measurements but when you have made a square you can type in the measurements yourself and have the square be exact. But there are different types of measurements so be aware of what kind of measure you have.
-You can copy an object by clicking on the object and pressing "CTRL" and it will make a direct copy.
-There are components and there are groups which lets you make a change to one component and it changes all.
-You can import an existing creation by exporting it as a Collada file and importing into another creation so you can have both.
